New Year’s Resolutions

My Mantra

“Have Courage and be kind”

As cliché as it might sound one of my favorite quotes is “have courage and be kind.” It might sound familiar because it’s from the movie Cinderella (non-cartoon if that makes you judge me less). As simple as these words seem they are the words I strive to live by. Most people mistake ‘nice’ and ‘kind’ for the same thing. Nice is when you are polite and agreeable. Kind is when your honest and care for another. I think it takes courage to be honest and stand up for what you believe in. This past year I believe I’ve shown a lot of kindness but there is always room for improvement. Where I think I lack is my courage to go after my dreams with no fear of failing. “what if I fail“ is so 2018.

Be Present

“Life is available only in the present”- Thich Nhat Hanh

This is something every person on the planet earth can practice more of except maybe if you’re a monk or master meditator. Living in the present is very difficult. I’ve noticed my mindset is always “I can’t wait till I finish this project at work, or I can’t wait till I’ve finished my workout, or I need to book a trip to have something to look forward to.” It’s almost like I’m wishing for my life to go by faster... NOT CHILL. I’ve been practicing enjoying little parts to my day, for example... that awesome match tea I got or that conversation I had with a coworker. So, I challenge you to set the intention to BE PRESENT in 2019.

No Excuses

“Hit it HARD!” -Alexandra Dickens

No freaking excuses!! For too long I’ve said,” I’m going to have the hottest bikini bod so I can blog about it” and did nothing about it. This year I’ve made a vow to be in my best shape I’ve ever been and my fellow BFC members follow my @bikinifitclub IG to see my progress! This is not to say I’m not happy with my body now, that’s not the case at all. I truly am happy with how I look at any size (took a long time for me to get that confidence), however I’m setting the goal to get back in athletic shape. Being an athlete in High School was who I was and after that I just worked out to stay slim. I’m looking forward to getting that jock mentality back.

Be Fearless

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire” -unknown

I’ve always valued my uniqueness, whether I was wearing a rainbow maxi dress to school or competing in triathlons I’ve always prided myself in being different than the rest. If my friend got that cute top from Urban that I just got, I’d take mine back. Blame it on being a Leo but I’ve never wanted to look or be anything other than my authentic self. As amazing as that sounds its often hindered me from going after my dreams. There are so many IG models, health coaches, fit gurus, and bloggers out there that I was scared I would look like a copycat if I created my own. Well &%#@ that fear! I’m unapologetically going to pursue my passions in 2019 and I’m not turning back.
